Other than the occasional pop country binge, I listen to very little pop music on FM radio. Unfortunately, Wednesday, I was driving home from work and the only thing being discussed on talk radio was Terrell Owens' suicide attempt, which I had heard more than enough about by noon. My iPod, normally option #1 while driving, is dead, so that wasn't an option. I flipped over to FM, but both country stations were on commercial, so I scanned the digital dial.
I landed on 107.1, the station Robyn and I affectionately refer to as 'The Ho-bag station'. The song being played was the musical equivalent of the 13-car pileup on the highway... you know it's bad, you know you should just look ahead and move on, but you can't stop looking at it. It was a sonic mess with distorted vocals and a strange concoction of sounds that didn't belong together. I listened through to the end mainly because I was curious who recorded it. I figured something that bad had to come from someone awfully famous, as there's no way someone's first "hit" would be that bad.
Trying to hear vocal qualities through the disaster, I decided I thought maybe the artist was Pink. I was wrong... it was Justin Timberlake. My wife thinks this is the funniest story ever. I mistook Justin Timberlake for Pink.
Memo to Timberpink... I don't know where 'sexy' went, but I'm pretty sure you didn't bring it back. And by the way, you have a really nice voice, so stop doing this weird crap and just sing. Or, you know, do some very strange techno experimentation. Why not.

Isn't that the second "ho-bag" reference in the same week.
Funny, I like that "ho-bag" station occasionally....some of it is horrible but the sexy back song has a good groove to it!!!
I hear ya, although I'm not a SexyBack fan, the grooves are good. It's just that some of the lyrical content is so bad...
CLARIFICATION: sometimes my wife and I listen to the ho-bag station. sometimes we even like it. no piety here. sometimes we're sarcastic. it's all good.
Glad to see that you can sometimes be a "ho-bag" too :)
JT is awful. He's horrifyingly ugly and his music makes me cry.
He's that perfect example of puting a guy in the right clothes, with the right people, in the right places and BAM! You've got a superstar.
We should try this experiment with our own Justin... Hall.
Justin Hall... come on man... wave your hands in the air... do a little dance... sing "Bye Bye Bye" and wait for all the 11-year-old girls to scream and faint at your very presence.
Good call, Brian. Justin Hall would make a very effective teen heartthrob. I mean, I want his body. Yeah.
What!!? Justin Timberlake and Pink aren't the same person?!
