"You are still a cliff and, baby, I still know how to fall"
- Kris Delmhorst, "Broken White Line" from Five Stories
(It's one of those "I fell in love with you, but we went separate ways, and I still think about you from time to time" songs. You know the type... I think it is its own genre.)
Not really sure why this line always jumps out at me. I've always liked a good metaphoric lyric, and it fits really well in the context of the song. Sometimes the lyric doesn't need to be overly deep or perfectly-crafted, it just needs to be in the right place at the right time. And her voice does something to my soul, which never hurts a lyric's effectiveness.
And here's some bonus 'Random' info for this 70-degree winter morning: the singer/guitarist/songwriter from Men at Work is from Scotland. What a fraud! He's the frontman and brains behind an Australian band whose greatest hit repeats "we come from a land down un-dah" over and over again and he isn't even an Aussie?
These are things that bother me. And now you know what goes on inside my head. You're welcome.
(And Ceen, just for you... "Ribbit! Moo! Ribbit! Baaaaa!" You're welcome, too.)

Wow - I can't even remember why that got started. Maybe just me being a hyper middle-schooler? Or worse and more embarrassing, a hyper high-schooler??
