...is a girl. Based upon the results of the ultrasound, everything looks good. All the measurements confirm a July 16 due date (which also, sadly, confirms that the girl was conceived while I was in Europe).
I don't know how anyone could ever grow calloused to the ultrasound process. To be able to look inside a woman's body and see a child moving around. To see my little girl chewing on her forearm. To see her clench her little fist. To be able to accurately measure the baby and confidently say that she currently weighs 13 ounces. Incredible.
We had simultaneous ultrasounds going on. Meghyn (Robyn's sister) and Bob are also having a girl, due July 12. It would be appropriate to say mid-July is going to be an interesting time in the family.
How The Tobe is going to handle the addition of multiple little girls to the family is certainly a concern right now. He knows something is up, but he doesn't get it.
(Last night, Robyn was with her small group at church, so I had Tobe from dinnertime until bedtime, and he was as bad as he's ever been. Non-stop crying for a couple hours. He needed his mommy. Daddy wasn't good enough. Ultimately, he fell asleep in my arms, exhausted from all the crying. We'll see how it plays out.)

Ok, you are going to need to stop adding the "concieved while you were in Europe" part, for countless reasons.
1) Not all of these people understand that that is rediculous, it really happens in other families, you know.
2)Toby could catch wind of it someday, and have a very convincing, typical older sibling lie "you aren't really in this family" "you were adopted" and worse, not that any sweet child of mine would ever say such cruel things.
Congratulations!! Daughters rock!
congrats dude!
indeed, daughters rock. since i don't have a boy, i've always guessed that the dad/daughter relationship is totally different from the dad/son relationship. i can only guess. but i just feel like i wouldn't be as much of a softy if Aly were a boy. not sure if i can/should get into all of that here.
you're also only 5 months away from being ridiculously over-protective.
i'm very happy for you guys.
Tell the wife she needs a blog of her own. I know she doesn't have time. Thats fine but really she has a little time and its good for her.
Also tell her I was looking through her name-book and absolutely object to the little dot next to 'Olive'.
Especially since everyone vetoed 'Pameleen' for me.
:D
Are you thinking of naming her Laura? That's a great name.
Your favorite cousin Laura
Congrats to both you and Robyn.!!!
A little girl. The closest JoAnn, Mike, Jeff and myself ever got to a sister/daughter was a Cocker Spaniel (Katie) and the lovely Reba, the yellow lab/mix/what ever. It sounds like b-call has his finger on the pulse regarding daughter/father relationship. I’m sure it’s a different deal altogether. Good luck with the pregnancy Robyn...and yeah, it’s going to be an interesting July for you guys.!!
