I'm not sleeping well. The sleep I get is interrupted by Aimee or by the thoughts that don't ever seem to slow down. I stay up later, wear myself out, and collapse in bed. I wake up tired, starting every morning off behind the 8-ball, usually long past the alarm.
My 'check engine soon' light came on the other day. This shouldn't be a surprise. My champion of a car, the infamous Pimp Boat, is now 15 years old and has been through a storm or 2. But it still stresses me out to think about potentially having to buy a car. Hopefully just an oil change will help Buck the Wonder Buick last a little while longer. But I need to get that oil change...
I played softball Thursday night, and my knee was hurting way more than usual Friday morning. My knee has bothered me for over a year now, and I've never had it checked out. We've already met our deductible (and then some) between Toby's ER visit and Aimee's birth, so if any medical procedures need to happen, now is the time. Before December 31, all med stuff is free. After December 31, we'll have to pay. I knew I should get the knee checked out...
My knee hurts, at least in part, because I carry too much weight on my body. I know this. I've known this. I need to lose weight. Badly. But I really like to eat. Eating makes me feel better, and it's so much more convenient to hit a drive through than plan ahead...
Being overweight, however, does not make me feel better. In addition to the extra stress on my bad knee, it adds stress to my heart. And feeling fat is no fun. Clothes don't fit. The oftentimes extra chin. Etc. And I eat more because I don't feel good...
Enough. I needed to check things off my list of things to worry about.
While getting the oil changed on my Friday lunchbreak, I decided I should call the doc about the knee. Could I get an appointment some time next week? Nope, all booked up, but there was one open at 4:00... yep. I'll take it. Honestly, I didn't want to go to the doc until I lost 10 pounds, because I remember what he said last time, and I'm up from there. The shame, I suppose. But oh well, I really can't afford any pride right now...
Doc says no structural damage in the knee. We can fix the knee. It's gonna take this medicine and these exercises and weight loss to keep it healed. And the blood pressure... it's really bad. I need to see you again in a month, and if it isn't better, we're gonna need to medicate that to bring it down, cause it's really too high.
And... You need these. Seriously.
Ok, doc, I trust you. If you say I need 'em, I'll take 'em.
I can't believe I took my first antidepressant. Weird. Doc's right, though. It's time.

"I eat because I'm unhappy. And I'm unhappy because I eat. It's a vicious cycle"I got to work and found out that my company will no longer contribute anything for me to any retirement plan. Just 9 months ago, the company announced that the pension plan was going away, "but we have this new plan, and it's much better for you, and it will also save the company lots of money..." and now, 9 months later, it's gone, too, and my first reaction was anger. I felt like I was lied to 9 months ago...

I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy! Wish there was something I could say. I feel for ya. I'll pray for ya. Take your pills, but don't expect a miracle from them, but definitely take them. You may only have to take them temporarily until some of this storminess passes in your life. We'll see...
