- There is absolutely no uniform in baseball as beautiful as the Phillie alt. There are plenty of other good unis, but none compare to that one.
- I know Lidge was perfect in the regular season, but if Cole Hamels has given me 8 innings of 2-hit ball in just 101 pitches, I'm telling him to go finish the job. It's October. Pitch counts be damned.
- Pitching and defense won game 1 of the PHI-MIL series. If weeks catches the throw to first on Hamels' sacrifice, Mike Cameron doesn't get a chance to misplay Utley's flyball into a 2-run double. And that was the game. Neither team hit worth a crap, but Philly's D didn't make any mistakes. Hence the win.
- Could you sense approximately 20,000 people at Wrigley preparing for some sort of ritualistic mass suicide after Loney's grand slam?
- Jon Freaking Lester. Seriously?! Beats cancer, throws a no-hitter, then dominates in his first playoff start on the road. Wow. Very very impressive.
- There are some GREAT players to follow, even if you don't care for any of the remaining teams: Utley, Howard, Hamels, Braun, Captain Cheeseburger, Prince, ManRam, Russ Martin, Derrek Lee, Big Papi, Papelbon, Vlad, Teixeira, Longoria.
- There are also some players who may not be labeled 'great', but are really fun to watch, for various reasons, nonetheless: Victorino, Moyer, Billingsley, Broxton, Nomar, Theriot, Marmol, Pedroia, Ellsbury, Carlos Pena, Balfour.
- And I can't put Junior in either of those categories right now, as I know he is nowhere near the player he was in the 90s, but it's October and he's playing baseball. That's a good thing, even though I wanted the Twins to win that division.
- I could not have possibly picked a better time to get in shape. Nothing holds my attention like baseball discussion and highlights. SportsCenter on the TV in front of my elliptical for an hour every morning is a very good thing.
I'll have more thoughts. I know, you're shocked. But really, I will.
