Miscellaneous

  • The coin flip has already proven to be much more accurate than my gut. The lesson, as always, is I'm an idiot. Don't ever take wagering advice from me.

  • I predicted the Cubbies would win 11 games this postseason. (11 victories in October = World Series champions) They won zero. And, quite honestly, I couldn't be happier. What I want more than anything is for the Reds to win. If the Reds can't win, then what I want more than anything is for Alex Rodriguez to be embarassed and Cub fans to be miserable. So life isn't all bad.

  • We have not put in any sort of offer on the property down the way. As much as it pains me to watch a structure I'm interested in remain unoccupied and in desperate need of some TLC, I've adopted a similar attitude about city properties as I have in regard to stray cats: "ya can't save 'em all". Who knows, maybe it'll still be for sale in a few months and we'll re-evaluate.

  • Clearly, the main goal of the Ocho Cinco name change was to create attention, thus adding to his fame, thus adding to his income. But, well, how do I say... the only way a wide receiver's name is going to be called is if he's catching balls and scoring touchdowns. As it stands, it doesn't really matter what his name is, as the announcers don't get to call it.

  • I did not watch a single snap of the Cowboys-Bengals game yesterday. The TV was never turned on. Best decision I made all day. Why should I give them any of my time? My wife is worthy of attention, as she's my best friend, and she's gorgeous. My children are worthy of attention, as God has given them to me, and they are awesome. The Bengals have done nothing to deserve my attention.

  • One man is to blame for the Bengals' woes. His name is not Marvin Lewis or Carson Palmer or Chris Perry (well, maybe 2 men are to blame...) or Ocho Cinco. His name is Mike Brown. Coaches and players have come and gone, but Mikey Boy has remained. Will this team catch lightning in a bottle, a la 2005, again with Humpty Dumpty in charge? Maybe, but it would be only that--lightning in a bottle.

  • I saw a friend for the first time in a month today. He said "hey, you're looking thinner". My response? "(Sigh...) God bless you."

  • The quote of the weekend? "Genetics are a bitch." Word.

  • Geoff & Seher are a freaking riot! They've been with us a whopping 4 days and I can't remember ever consistently laughing more. Seher's accent certainly doesn't hurt, but it's her cynical sassy personality combined with Geoff's... non-cynical non-sassy personality (?) that makes for such frequent hilarity.

  • Toby was brushing his teeth the other night. He needed help with the toothpaste. My legs were tired, so I sat down on the toilet seat lid. He looked at me, saw that my pants were up, and said "Ewwwww, don't go poopy in your pants. That's gross!"

  • Toby and I are both getting sick. We're both very pathetic people when we are sick. Good luck to all who come into contact with us.

Aly was sick last week. I had to go to her 5 times in the middle of Saturday night (including 1 in the last minute of the OSU game (thanks DVR!!!)). Mindee, 3 times. She wins!
Sick kids suck worse than about any other thing I can imagine.
I'm terrified whenever Aly gets ill.
Good luck.

We didn't turn on the game until the fourth quarter for the same reasons. It was just enough to get our hopes up, only to have them dashed. I'm so sick of it.
