Robyn and The Tobe have both been sick, which forces me to step up. It would be very foolish for me to get cocky about helping out around the house more lately, especially considering my wife works so much harder than me every day. She doesn't believe it, but it's too true. I know I'm the one bringing home the bacon, but she is on Toby Duty 24/7. I never get up in the middle of the night to deal with him. She does, almost on a nightly basis. There's no way I could be a stay-at-home dad. I could not handle it.
Robyn's non-stop drive to be a wonderful wife and mother, unfortunately, makes it very easy for me to take it very easy at home. I know I should step up, because I'm supposed to be a man. But am I even able to step up when she can't? Am I too selfish to do so? Thankfully, it seems that I can. She desperately needed some sleep Saturday overnight, but Toby decided she wasn't allowed to. Thanks to Daddy Guy Intervention, Robyn got to sleep while Toby was dealt with.
It ended up being so incredibly peaceful, as Tobe decided to go back to sleep on my chest around 4am. While certainly tempted to try to catch a few winks myself, I decided I should soak it all in. How many times in my life will I get to have an extended time my son resting on me? I ended up staying awake from 4-7 while he slept, peacefully, on me. I watched through the window as a few inches of snow fell. And I thanked God for it all. It was a good night/morning.
Changing topics entirely... The diet thing is weird. Immediate results? Since when do I get immediate results when working on a struggle? Regardless, I'm thrilled. The first digit of my weight hasn't been a "1" in quite awhile, but it might happen as early as tomorrow morning. How long will I be able to stick with a low-calorie diet? Who knows. I've already planned a couple cheat sessions, so I can look forward to those... (1) Superbowl, (2) Robyn's B-day / Valentine's Day in mid-Feb., and (3) the fantasy baseball draft sometime between now and April 1... mmmmmmmmmmmmm... Waaaaaaaaaaaalt's...

I feel your pain, I was up every hour last night with Allie. She has the flu and has not been this sick in a long, long time!
