I think it's fun to have family traditions, but it shouldn't be just "this is who's house we go to on these days". In addition to the "normal" celebratory/party holidays, we have added a few fun traditions that we really enjoy (and hopefully The Tobe will, too):
(1) Every October, we go to Lobenstein's Farm in St. Leon, IN, for their pumpkin patch and general fall fun. (This has been well-documented with pictures in this space.)
(2) Every December, we go with Ed Hampton to Bohman's Tree Farm in St. Maurice, IN, for their quality Christmas tree-cutting experience. They give you a ride out to the field, hand you an incredibly sharp saw, you go pick a tree, cut it down, and haul it back to the tractor. It's loads of fun, even when it takes Robyn and me an eternity to find the perfect tree.
We probably have other family traditions, and there will certainly be more new ones to come as Toby grows, but these are the ones on my mind right now. Ya know, this family thing is kinda fun!

uncle al, the kiddie's pal??
Hey watch the "uncle al" thing - he can't help it that he got stuck with "ALBERT" the family name!! Uncle Al is a very awesome guy with a huge heart! Scott, does this mean that we don't get to see the Tobe on Christmas - can you make yet one more stop at my parents house - we have a gift for Tobe! Let me know..........
My sister and family saw you yesterday at the Christmas tree farm!! She told me she saw this cute kid strapped on his mom's chest and then looked and saw you two. We have gone there every year for ages!! It's awesome! Too bad my house is now too small for a real tree, but someday...
