...with dreams that clean dishes soon would be there."
Like I said, with the baseball playoffs here, it's the most wonderful time of the year, so why not rewrite Christmas poetry? What? Like you've never done it?
Hanging cabinets is fun! Not real easy, not real hard, but enjoyable. When hanging a cabinet over a refrigerator, somehow the cabinet has to be held up against the wall and the person with the drill must be on top of a ladder. Doing that with just 2 people is a challenge, at least for a hack like me. The old wall studs are much, much, MUCH more solid than the crap you'll find at Home Depot, so quite a bit of force is required to get the screws in. Very satisfying to realize that everyone is still alive and the cabinet is indeed fastened to the wall.
That being said, all the kitchen cabinets are now up. They look great. They don't have doors yet, but they're up. (Time has been of the essence, so we decided to just refinish the cabinets themselves first. The doors will come in time, possibly in a few years. But probably sooner. OK, definitely sooner.)
Last night, we brought the last of what remained from Robyn's parents' house: the cats. Man, was I tempted to leave them... but if I did that, my in-laws might become my ex-in-laws, and nobody wants that. Especially the cats.
For some reason, Tobe was quite concerned that the cats were in the car. Every single time Sesame got near him, he starting whining "no, no, no..." and tried to push her away. Granted, he was tired, but he was bothered enough that he wanted to hold my hand to help him calm down.
Times like that make being a dad really cool...
