At Toby’s one year checkup, his most excellent pediatrician urged us to get Tobe a blood test for lead, since we have an old home and lead is especially dangerous to little kids. Since taking blood is no fun, we decided to test the house for lead first. Our bathtub tested positive, which meant the little dude was gonna have to get stuck.
Thankfully, he’s fine, but we were a little anxious the next couple days while waiting for results. Lots of conversation ensued, and I find some of it humorous in hindsight:
“If Tobe is positive, what do we do?”
“Well, we’ll definitely have to re-do the bathtub…”
“But how much will that cost?”
“Probably depends on whether we just re-finish it or if we go all out and replace it”
“How do we make that decision? Either way it will be a lot of work and expensive”
“Well, I guess it depends on how long we plan on being in this house”
“But that depends on how soon we have more kids”
“Ok, so what comes first, a new house or more kids?”
Essentially, before we can make a decision on what to do with the bathtub, we have to plan out the rest of our entire freaking lives. You know, cause it’s normal for a simple discussion about a bathtub to end up lasting for days of intense family planning talk.

we're having this similar discussion at my house about whether we should finish the basement or have another child and move out soon.
this will probably end with Mindee being pregnant again one way or the other. but this time, it'll probably be with triplets, or something silly like that.
I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD JUST NEVER SHOWER AGAIN - THAT SHOULD TAKE CARE OF ALL THE ABOVE MENTIONED THINGS - NO SHOWER, NO LEAD, NO SHOWER, NO SEX THEREFORE NO MORE BABIES!!
