Anyhow, my Thursday night high school small group competed against my wife's Thursday night high school small group and also against the Thursday night small groups of Jason Bast and Eric Bast in a video scavenger hunt. It was 90 minutes of gas-guzzling bad-idea insanity.
One of the items on the list was to find Steve Chabot and get him and your entire group together on video. It was worth a ridiculous amount of points. Basically, if anyone knew where Steve Chabot was and could convince him to get on video, it was an automatic win. Naturally, no one found him.
Tonight, at the Hamilton County Fair, I found him. He seems to be a very nice man. I know it's too late to get the points, as the deadline was 7pm Thursday... but this has gotta count for something right? (By the way, he thinks The Tobe is awesome. He's getting my vote...)

i knew chabot lived on the west side (in westwood, i think? i put him and that "picture" on the list because i wanted to see how hard a group would work for it. he's not in the phone book, but i figured there might be a way of getting to him.
last month when i made a digital camera scavenger hunt list out for the girls small groups, i added the clue: get a picture of your whole group with the mayor of Cheviot - Samuel D. Keller. i also made it worth 45,000 points, easily 4 times the value of the highest points on the rest of the list.
i didn't think anyone would REALLY try it.
but they did. and they got him.
and it made my night.
every time i put together a scavenger hunt i put one that is somewhat impossible (but not completely impossible) just to see what they'll do with it.
one thing about teenagers i learned long ago: many will be very creative when challenged.
