Ten Thousand Words

Since I haven't posted any pictures in 2 months, here are 10 of them. This should satisfy all of you who are constantly demanding images on the ol' blog. Or, in other words, this should satisfy you, Grambee.
Good luck trying to convince me that there is a cuter kid in the world. Seriously, give it a shot. You won't be able. Wanna know who the cutest is? Right here...
Speaking of Grambee... she was in Gatlinburg when this was taken. I've written in the past about how awesome Toby's eyes are. This pic shows that they are still the awesomeist. They just keep getting more awesomer.
The boy isn't the calmest kid in the world. In fact, he's pretty high-strung. To be completely honest, he's a handful and a half, and we don't always know how to handle him. There seem to be a few foolproof ways to get him to settle down, though... he loves "If you're happy and you know it..." and "The itsy bitsy spider..." and being on Daddy's shoulders.
He looooooooves cell phones, but don't you dare give him one of those fake, kid-toy phones. He knows it won't work. He's on to your trickery. He demands the real deal. And if you try to take it away from him before he's good and ready to give it up, you better be prepared to do "The itsy bitsy spider..." or ready to place him quickly upon my shoulders for a stroll around the 'hood. 'Cause it gets nasty when you try to take his phone away. Or your phone away. Either way, what's yours is his, and what's his is his. He will win, and you will lose. Anybody wanna babysit? [Crickets chirping...] No, really, he's the best. Really. It's very satisfying to spend an evening alone with him. [/Crickets chirping...]
I'm still unsure as to how the blow-up version of Munch's "Scream" ended up at Great-Grandpa's house, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with one of those crazy uncles. Toby wrestled it, and predictably was not defeated. I'll bet it wanted to scream by the time the brute got done with it. Him. Whatever.
7 months later, 25 pounds less on the Daddy, and a bigger Tobe... we returned to Union Terminal last Friday. This might have to be some sort of a father-son photo tradition. While on the inside, Tobe stole a lawnmower from an unsuspecting 2-year-old and wrecked havoc on the lady trying to do the group singalong. Refer back to previous photo description that says "he will win, you will lose." The poor museum worker didn't know what hit her.
Memorial Day Weekend included an afternoon at Winton Woods and Parky's Farm. While not chasing ducks or trying to put the horse's bedding back into its stall, Tobe was fascinated by the fan in the barn. It's the little things in life, ya know? They had some sweet John Deere tractors for the little ones. Made me reminisce of the time I scratched up my neighbor's car with a play tractor. That didn't go so well...

Isabelle is definitely a potential future girlfriend. And also, I think Tobe was trying to tell her that she has a nose.

(Sidenote: If I ever have access to a time machine, the current top event in all of history on my list to revisit would be when the llama spit on poor young Caleb, Isabelle's older bro. I always heard that they spit if you get too close to them. Heck, there was a very visible sign right next to them that said as much. But until last weekend, I had no idea how unbelievably HUGE their loogs are. It was absolutely filthy. We all gasped in horror as Caleb stood paralyzed by what hit him (right in the face, no less... the animal has impeccable aim), and we laughed pretty dang hard as soon as his mommy took him to get cleaned up. Photographic evidence would be awesome here, but no dice.)
Robyn has been perpetually trying to teach the boy to hold our hands while walking. It's paying off. Here, Tobe took not only my hand but also his godfather's hand as we walked toward the barn.
Watersports have been a winner so far. He loves his water table, he loves the sink, and now he has a fresh batch of water-related playthings thanks to cousins Robert, Bradley, and Sam. Here he is getting soaked by his exciting new Winnie the Pooh sprinkler. Many thanks go out to Diane and Rob for all the fun new toys and to Laura and Jeff for letting us use their truck. Toby thanks you!

Great pics! It was good to see you all briefly at the museum center. Toby is so cute! I love the photo of his eyes close up! Also, Kaelyn also figures out when we try to give her a toy cell phone instead of a real one. She's no dummy! She always wants the real one that makes noises and lights up. She has prank called quite a few people with her button-pushing. At least she hasn't called China -- yet.
