Music

First things first... Brooke Trisler is playing a show at The Underground on Friday, May 26th. I will be lending my guitar/vocal/accordion/other talents, as usual. Andrew Young will be providing the beats. Word. It should be a good show. A little pricey for those of you who are used to the $2 cover at Rohs Street (and incredibly pricey for you family members who we typically sneak in for free), but the $7 cover is good for multiple bands, and it truly is a quality venue. So come on out and hear some quality tunes and hang out with us quality people. I have now officially met my quota for using the word 'quality' today.

Second things second... I've had the iPod for almost a year and a half now. I don't use it every day, but I love having it. I hardly ever put any new music on it anymore (Daniel Powter was the last add, and I think that was early March), and yet the shuffle never gets old. Where else can I hear Jay-Z followed immediately by Allison Krauss followed immediately by Stevie Wonder followed immediately by Eoghan Heaslip? I rest my case. It's wonderful.

Third things third... no sausage-fest for the final 3 in Idol. I was holding out hope that Katharine would go home. Robyn and my collective jaw dropped when Seacrest announced Chris Daughtry received the lowest vote total. I figured his voters were more loyal. I mean, I don't think Chris has been all that great the last few weeks, and the 2 guys that I really want to stick around are still here, but we were still shocked. Elliott continues to receive my votes weekly, so I can take some pride in the fact that the best true vocalist in the competition is still around. Earlier tonight, I told Robyn I thought Elliott had "no chance" at winning it. Now? It's wide open. Elliott is just so dang good, and Taylor can be so dang good when he just lets it loose. (Nobody is more fun to watch than Taylor when he's having fun.) That would be a fun final. Let's hope for it. Let's send the suddenly sexually charged Katharine home. (2 months ago, I thought Katharine was a sweetheart. Now I think she's about 3 months away from a Maxim spread.)

Amen to Elliot rockin'. He is awesome. He has my vote--ahem...even though I've never actually picked up the phone to vote. And Katherine, yeah, she's definitely using her figure to try and beat everybody out.

Sooooo with you on the Chris shocker. I think it was some kind of ploy to keep a female in the competition longer. Conspiracy theory? Perhaps. However, there is no way that she out-performed Chris on Tuesday night. This is the first season that I've followed American Idol, and last night was the first night I was thoroughly disappointed in who went home! Go Taylor and Elliot!
